Position Overview
Under general supervision of Structures Supervisor, perform duties involved in the maintenance and alteration of door lock hardware for campus buildings and structures. Keep accurate records of all changes and alterations. Respond to customer and BUPD work requests as needed. Perform preventative maintenance duties as scheduled.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibilities of this position is the design, installation, maintenance of the key and locking systems through the Butler campus. The locksmith will coordinate the issuing and tracking of all campus keys for Staff, Faculty and Contractors assuring a proper hiarchy of access related to individual needs yet assuring proper control for safety and security.
Additional Responsibilities:
- In addition to the direct locksmith needs, the locksmith will assist carpenters and other trades in the repair of doors and electronic systems that affect the proper latching and locking to maintain security of the campus.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- The successful candidate is required to have 3-5 years of experience as a locksmith preferably with formal locksmith training and certification. Experience should also include managing a campus with a master key system, managing key code and key locks including the re-coring of entire buildings.
