This newly created part-time position offers the opportunity to support students as the Director of the Innovation Lab within the Lacy School of Business. The Innovation Lab Director will have the responsibility for both the creation and execution of efforts for CONNECTING, CELEBRATING, and EDUCATING student innovation.
- CONNECTING innovation-minded students and fostering community on campus. This will include, but not be limited to, advising entrepreneurship & innovation related club(s) and meetups. In addition, facilitate opportunities to connect students externally through entrepreneurial partnerships, such as Launch Fishers, SpeakEasy, gBeta, SBDC, internships, etc., and with alumni.
- CELEBRATE innovation among various Butler stakeholders. In addition to managing the Innovation Showcase space, which may eventually evolve into a marketplace, potential ideas include student/alumni awards, collecting stories, etc.
- EDUCATING and fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among students beyond the classroom, such as through workshops, mentoring opportunities, marketplaces, student competitions (idea and venture), an entrepreneurship-in-residence program, etc. Mentor students who want to pursue their own business after the Real Business Experience or the Entrepreneurial Accelerator classes.
In the spirit of innovation, the Innovation Lab will be co-created with various stakeholders and continuously evolve in the years to come. In addition to having entrepreneurial experience, the ideal candidate for the Innovation Lab Director position will be collaborative, able to work independently, and embrace innovation. A master’s degree in a business related field is preferred, but not required.
The mission of the new Innovation Lab within Butler University’s Lacy School of Business is to support entrepreneurship and innovation among students outside the classroom. The Lacy School of Business is accredited by AACSB-International and enrolls over 1100 full-time undergraduates and nearly 200 part-time MBA students. Butler provides personalized liberal and professional education to 4,700 undergraduate and 650 graduate students in its six colleges.
This position is part-time, up to 20 hours per week, and a one-year contract. Subsequent renewal of the contract is contingent on funding.
