Position Overview

The Lacy School of Business at Butler University seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in Business Law. We are especially interested in applicants with a strong focus on business transactions and intellectual property. The position start date is August 2024, and the standard teaching load is nine credit hours per semester with release time made available based on research productivity. A willingness and ability to teach online is also expected. We welcome applicants with prior experience to apply.

Required Qualifications 

  • Must have J.D. and at least 3 years of experience practicing law.
  • Must demonstrate ability to research and publish scholarly work.
  • Experience in business transactions and intellectual property.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience or interest in anti-trust, bankruptcy, and/or business start-ups.

Candidates must provide evidence that they will be excellent teachers, committed to working with a diverse population of students. They must also show that they will be productive researchers and display an interest in vigorous interaction with the business community.
