Position Overview

Butler University's Finance Department has an opening for a student account representative. This role provides exceptional service to students, utilizing problem-solving and effective communication skills to support the student accounts team. The ideal candidate has a passion for learning and a positive, can-do attitude. This position requires a student-centered professional with excellent communication skills. The student account representative works closely with students, parents, and all campus partners to promote a positive learning environment and foster financial success. The successful candidate maintains confidentiality, is analytical, has exceptional problem-solving skills and is dedicated to exemplary service. The successful candidate must also be able to accurately manage multiple projects simultaneously including daily processing of payments, petty cash, departmental deposits and third-party billing requests.    

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with office partners across campus to resolve any issues regarding account questions/concerns, petty cash and departmental receipts
  • Review outside billing requests, create invoices and follow through to payment receipt
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in students’ financial success; listen intently and communicate effectively
  • Organize cyclical account information to provide accurate and thorough counseling information, present viable options as necessary
  • Process student check payments daily and maintain balanced cash drawer
  • Prepare check deposits daily and send to bank electronically; balance all entries and prepare end of day reports
  • Exceptional counseling & problem-solving skills; advises appropriately and embraces a demonstrated commitment to accuracy

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR five or more years’ experience in effective consumer communications environment
  • Exceptional organizational, technical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to exemplary service
  • Proven attention to detail and ability to work under pressure while managing multiple responsibilities
  • Proficient in O365 Suite including, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid
  • Proficient in Salesforce & PeopleSoft
