Position Overview

The Program Manager for Butler University's Division of Professional Studies (DPS) is accountable for developing and enhancing the Division’s extended learning program management, including the Adult Undergraduate Completion Degree initiative. The Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage the existing extended learning programs and to engage in the development and implementation of new extended learning program offerings involving accountability for the program experience and outcomes for students with a focus on the unique needs of adult and online learners. 

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership and Outcomes: Serve as the central authority for all DPS extended learning programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership degree program (Adult Undergraduate Completion Degree initiative). Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement programs, manage program outcomes through metrics and KPIs, and provide leadership reports to inform strategic decision-making. Additionally, act as a resource for program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Program Development and Management: Spearhead program development by collaborating with DPS stakeholders to design, implement, and monitor programs. Oversee administration and governance of existing programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership degree program. This includes establishing course development timelines, reviewing course planning, and ensuring alignment with objectives to create high-quality learning experiences for adult learners. Leverage market research to identify new program opportunities aligned with DPS's strategic goals and adult, online, and professional education audiences. 
  • Instruction and Faculty Oversight: Deliver and teach extended learning program courses while overseeing the faculty team through recruitment, hiring, and oversight. Ensure faculty expertise aligns with program goals and delivers a positive learning experience for adult learners. 
  • Program Promotion and Success: Promote extended learning programs and participate in promotional events. Review applications for admission and record admission decisions, ensuring student success potential for all DPS programs. Assist with implementing the enrollment process for all programs, fostering a smooth transition for incoming students through matriculation. 
  • Program Administration: Contribute to program administration by representing programs on committees and to external constituents, supervising administrative support staff, scheduling courses, maintaining timelines, and enforcing program regulations to maintain program integrity and quality across all DPS offerings. 
  • Position Impact: Enhance the division and organization's reputation for strategy and innovation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring innovative opportunities to add value to organization accomplishments. 
  • Professional Growth: Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications 

  • Master’s Degree  
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience 
  • Considerable ability to take initiative, prioritize work, and manage multiple projects simultaneously to achieve desired results.  
  • Considerable ability and willingness to work independently and in a team environment, including physical or virtual environments with a passion for supporting and serving as an advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  
  • Considerable relationship management skills, including diplomatically addressing questions, or concerns successfully resolving challenges, and generating solutions

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree in a related field such as management, leadership 
  • Experience leading programs specifically designed to serve adult, online, and professional education learners
  • Experience teaching and facilitating student learning outcomes in digital education
