Lab Research Assistant

The Masamha Lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Butler University seeks two candidates for part-time lab research assistant positions. At a minimum, we are seeking a candidate with at least 2 years documented extensive molecular biology lab experience and/or a BS degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Medical Lab Science or a similar Life Science related field. Individuals with hands on experience with PCR, Western Blotting, human cell culture and other molecular biology techniques will be at an advantage.

Selected individuals are expected to start working part-time on an NIH funded grant research project over the summer of 2024 and continued employment after the summer will depend on the needs of the research project and the availability of grant funding.

General Responsibilities:

  • Reports to supervisor and work collaboratively with other lab members. 
  • Performs specialized laboratory services related to specimen preparation and processing. 
  • Does cell culture and performing various molecular biology techniques including PCR. 
  • Data analysis and preparing progress reports. 
  • Maintaining a daily lab notebook as well as other day to day lab requirements.
