Position Overview

This position provides instructional design consulting and support services focusing on online and hybrid courses and programs via the Office of Academic Program Development and Innovation (APDI). This is a highly collaborative position that will work closely with faculty, staff and administrators around the university to support course and program implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual consultation, facilitate group learning experiences and demonstrate leadership and ability to explain, demonstrate, and gain faculty support for integrating instructional design principles, instructional strategies, learning theory and online best practices in the design, development, and teaching of engaging learner-centered courses.
  • Support faculty in design, development, and implementation of online curriculum and course content so online and hybrid courses meet or exceed Butler online quality standards.
  • Provide guidance, consulting and recommendations for ongoing improvement of online quality standards and best practices.
  • Initiate and support efforts to research, assess, and share emerging online and hybrid design and teaching techniques and innovative instructional experiences including online and hybrid courses and new programs.
  • Provide instructional design support to assist faculty developing new academic certificates and programs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Technology or related field
  • Three years ID experience: Experienced in application of instructional design, course design, message design, learning technologies, and assessment specific to course and curriculum design with specific experience in online design and delivery. Comfortable expertise with presentation and consulting skills.
  • Two-three years teaching online (preferred)
