Position Overview

This is a position in which the Personal Trainer is expected to actively participate in the development and implementation of safe, effective and enjoyable fitness routines. The Personal Trainer ensures the safe and proper use of all equipment involved. Administrative duties such as keeping track of client sessions are required. Nationally recognized certifications must be obtain within one year of hire from the following organizations: American Council on Exercise (ACE) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Training: 

    • Conduct Fitness Assessments with all clients each semester
    • Develop and implement training sessions with clients (minimum of 3)
    • Perform weekly kennel cleans
    • Work an HRC fitness event (i.e. paint the kennel pink, Bulldog Jog, etc)
    • Evaluate peers once per semester
    • Mentor and train incoming staff each semester

    Planning: 

    • Program sessions for clients (done prior to training session w/ client)
    • Planning educational sessions in advance

    Continuing Education: 

    • Attending small education sessions hosted at HRC (usually led by the Fitness Coordinator/Assistant Director)
    • Any ACE, AFFA, Pilates, etc. workshops that may be available (do not have to attend these, but available to those who wish to take them.)

    Meetings: 

    • Attend all required meetings (Monthly All Fitness meetings)

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • National personal training certification
