Position Overview

The Director of Graduate Admission oversees and coordinates the recruitment efforts for graduate and online programs at Butler University. The Director plays a key role in developing a centralized, strategic recruitment plan to attract new students to Butler’s growing online and graduate program portfolio while in support of current programs. This role will collaborate closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Senior EM Leadership Team to develop and implement recruitment strategies, manage admission processes, and ensure an exceptional experience for prospective students from inquiry through to enrollment.

The Director is accountable for designing and leading a team that supports all aspects of the enrollment process once students express an interest. These activities include close work with Enrollment Marketing to support ongoing communication with prospects, events (appointments, webinars, open houses, etc.), admission review, and overall appropriate advising of students to programs. The Director works to build relationships with each program manager as to best support meeting program goals. The Director works within assigned budgets and will work closely with colleges, departments, and divisions offering programs to align on expectations; ensuring students are set-up for success in the programs in which they enroll.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment plans to attract prospective students from diverse backgrounds. 
    Create and implement enrollment activities aligned with online and graduate student needs.
  • Collaborate with college Deans, program managers, and other academic leaders to create documents, communications, and strategies that align with program expectations and goals.
  • Develop and implement an effective plan for admitted students; ensuring they feel part of the Butler community.
    Create and attend recruitment events to attract potential students to Butler’s online and graduate programs.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Financial Aid Student Services for Graduate, Professional and Other Learners to support students through the admission, financial aid, and enrollment process. Specifically, direction/assistance with graduate communication flows is needed on the financial aid side.  
  • Collaborate with academic departments and student services to support seamless transitions for admitted students and facilitate their integration into the college community.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to track recruitment efforts, assess outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee regular reporting to the VPEM and Colleges regarding programs.
  • Supervise the roles of Enrollment Advisors established to work with specific academic programs/Colleges.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in admissions and higher education, actively participating in professional development opportunities and networks.
  • Lead team members in a positive and effective manner; creating a positive culture where people can succeed and thrive.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum five years’ experience working in higher education, preferably in college admissions or a related field
  • Experience working with online and/or graduate programs
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to meet enrollment goals and targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build relationships with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and admissions management systems; experience with CRM software
  • Comfortable in a dynamic startup environment with significant amounts of autonomy
  • Passionate about access, affordability, and equity in higher education
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to travel
