Position Overview

The Building Services Lead will assist the Department Supervisor with direct supervision of anywhere from one (1) to twelve (15) Building Services staff members - on routine daily/nightly basis and as directed by the supervisor. Assist Supervisor with planning, scheduling, and coordinating routine/special assignments for Building Services staff engaged in the maintenance and general housekeeping of campus buildings and grounds and Sets and Events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist supervisor with planning/completing routine operations, projects, customer service issues, staff issues and general campus emergencies that might arise at any given time
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership coverage whenever supervisor is off duty or as assigned
  • Assist Supervisor with preparing weekly or bi-weekly staff and safety meetings
  • Assist supervisor in resolving staff disciplinary issues as requested or required
  • Assist supervisor with control and issue of supplies
  • Respond to campus emergency situations and maintenance requests as necessary
  • Keep an updated inventory of the equipment
  • Assist supervisor with the implementation of a good PM system as needed

Required Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years professional housekeeping experience
  • Able to work overtime and days off as necessary
  • Evidence of stable work history
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills required
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, creativity and initiative required
  • Ability to work both independently and in a “team” setting
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record according to Butler University policies
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer Experience with “Email” required, Microsoft Word & Excel a plus
  • 1-2 years experience with supervisor or assistant supervisor experience
