Research Associate

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences seeks a responsible candidate for a full-time Research Associate position in the Masamha Lab at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Qualifications: The minimal degree requirement for this position requires advanced knowledge as evidenced by a MS degree in the general area of biomedical sciences (E.g., Biology, Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology). However, candidates with a higher degree (PhD) in the biomedical field will also be considered.

Responsibilities: The Research Associate will perform specialized activities in the area biomedical sciences that include:

  • PCR, Western Blotting, DNA sequencing, biochemical assays, NGS, Protein extractions, etc.) and human cell culture.
  • Basic data interpretation & troubleshooting/optimization, as well as data presentation during regular staff meetings.
  • Train students in molecular biology lab techniques and function as a co-supervisor for students.
  • Manage ordering of chemical and biochemical reagents, supplies, and equipment.
  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, purchasing equipment operation, resource allocation, cleanup and maintenance when necessary.
  • Involved in safety audit to ensure that all operations follow regulatory standards.
  • Oversight and maintenance of safety standards.
